It's safe to say that West Ham's 2024 has not been one to remember thus far ...

  1. Several significant injuries to important players and absences due to international duty.

  2. Seven games, but zero success to show for it.

  3. Eliminated from the FA Cup by Bristol City. A midtable championship team.

  4. A frustrating transfer window which left the West Ham squad in a more vulnerable position.

  5. Tim Steidten, our highly regarded technical director, is now toying with the possibility of joining Liverpool.

  6. Fans have different opinions about the manager.

  7. Falling out of the top six race

  8. Witnessing Declan Rice let loose an impressive 30-yard goal to add to West Ham's struggles in a soul-destroying 6-0 loss to Arsenal - what was the club's most lopsided home loss in over sixty years.

The foreseeable future for West Ham United fans in 2024 can only improve, and fortunately, we have received some positive news, from reliable sources leading up to our crucial Nottingham Forest game at the City Ground this weekend.

Antonio's Return Signals Hope Amidst Hammers' 2024 Struggles

As reported by a reliable source close to the club, it has been confirmed that Michail Antonio is set to be included in the squad for the game against his former club, Nottingham Forest, on Saturday afternoon.

Michail Antonio is expected to join West Ham's squad for the upcoming trip to the City Ground following the completion of a full week of full contact training, barring any unforeseen complications. David Moyes will then have to decide if he wants to risk starting him against Forest.

Michail Antonio additionally tweeted the news and expressed his excitement to make his return to first-team football on Saturday.

Speaking via his personal social media account on Wednesday afternoon, Antonio posted:

"10 years since the City Ground was home! Something I’ve learned in that time is this game is full of ups and downs, and it’s all about how you react to it. Massive game this weekend; we’re coming ready. #COYI "

The striker has been sidelined due to an injury sustained last year while representing Jamaica in international fixtures. As a result, Antonio has played just 14 matches for West Ham United so far this season, scoring two goals in the process.  His last appearance for the Hammers was against our opposition, Nottingham Forest, in a 3-2 victory at the London Stadium in November, almost three months ago this week. West Ham currently sit eighth in the Premier League, with 36 points from 24 games. 15 points above our opponents, Nottingham Forest, who lie 16th in the table on a mere 21 points, with a tight two-point cushion above the drop zone.

We should all be hopeful that Antonio's return will finally reverse our bad fortune in 2024.
